Shit happens in real life and also in kdramaland.
"It sucked!" , "The worst drama I’ve ever watched!". "Such a waste of time!"
Those are few of the comments that I’m certain of Marry Him If You Dare is getting. Well for me, I wasn’t really THAT shocked and angered about the ending. I was kinda expecting an open-ended finale anyway because the writer has been screwing the ill-fated series since episode 7.
I’ve never planned on watching this show in the first place anyway. I was supposed to watch Medical Top Team but I watched this instead because of Lee Dong-gun. Hihihi. I love that guy! XD
I really don’t have a “worst drama” on my list because when I feel that a certain show is slowly going crazy beyond repair, I drop it right away so I don’t have to stress over it. I don’t know in what particular episode did the writer make her changes but I’m certain about few things:
1. The ratings were a huge factor in this drama’s failure.
2. The writer was trying to please the viewers or the people from that DC community) thereby sacrificing her plot and characters… and eventually the talent of the actors and actresses involved in this drama.
3. The live-shoot filming system of kdramaland.
I’m not really that sure but I think the writer before writing the next episode lurks in netizen discussion threads so she could get the pulse on what they think of her drama. And if she finds it compelling to change a certain storyline just to get those people to watch, she would do it. And of course this would result to inconsistent character developments. (Park Se-joo is an example of this.) Isn’t that the purpose of live-shoot filming? It’s to get the viewers’ pulse or to catch up with the trends.
If only she didn’t get herself swayed with the opinions of her viewers and the ratings; and went on with the story she really wanted to tell, this drama could have been one of the best dramas I’ve seen in 2013. Marry Him If You Dare was so full of potential. It had a very interesting premise and to top that, it has YEH, LDG. JYH and HCA in it which showcased their brilliant performances! In my case, this is the first time I’ve seen JYH act and I must say that he’s portrayed Se-joo very well! Same goes with YEH, HCA and the guy who just came back from a long hiatus…. Lee Dong-gun~!!! Ahh~ this guy really… I’ve been waiting for this guy to come back because he’s just soooo good! He owned that rooftop scene in Episode 15! No words, just pure emotions. RIGHT IN THE FEELS. *claps*
It’s just so unfortunate that it has ended this way. It was definitely vague. But there’s nothing we can do now. All has been said and done. All we can ever do is to move on and realize that shit doesn’t only happen in real life, it happens in dramaland too. (Maybe even more often!) Hahaha.
Looking forward to their future projects! Here’s to hoping they get to work in a genuine Romantic-Comedy genre. May it be a drama or movie.
I hope I could give a hug to Yoo-kyung and Kim Shin. My feels~ Huhuhu. How could a drama do this to me?!?
Yoo-kyung doesn’t deserve any of this. Poor girl. *sighs deeply*
That’s why I’m feeling all so sorry for him. T^T
"By the way, don’t you think KS is pretty deeply in love with our MR? I mean to give someone up, because you could mean bad things for them is not an easy choice to make. Especially when all you think about is her, all you worry about is her, and all you want for her is her happiness. Takes a lot of guts…" - inkymuse @ soompi forums.
This scenario happens often in kdramaland and this never fails to reel me in and root for the male lead all the more. Poor Kim Shin.
Last year, the Hong Sisters failed the viewers with BIG. Now, it’s Kim Eun-sook’s turn with Heirs. The Hong Sisters might have been under the so-called “writer’s block” and this year, seems like Kim Eun-sook is going through the same thing. I’m not watching Heirs because of reasons. Lots of reasons. And I’m making my life simple by not watching it than complaining about it everytime I watch it. :)
Rant mode: OFF.
Here comes the angst! Because it’s not kdrama if there’s no angst included. Don’t get too affected. It’s just a drama. Try to sit back and try to enjoy the show.
Calm down guys. Calm down.
LDG with sunglasses though. *squeals*

"Moon Geun Young and Kim Bum are dating."
My SoEulmate heart just broke into millions of tiny pieces. T^T
They won’t last for long I promise. *evil laugh*
Let the shipping begin~!!!
Yey! I’m rooting for both pairs! Totally sold on the Kim Shin & Mirae pair and same goes for Se-joo and Yoo-kyung. Both of them are cute! ^^
I maybe one of the few who see Mirae and Se-joo nothing but as good friends. I don’t see any romantic chemistry in them and it seems like Mirae has fallen for Shin and he’s starting to show his feelings for Mirae too. My heart aches for Se-joo in that episode 7 preview. Poor guy. He should’ve stick with Yoo-kyung instead. And speaking of this character, she’s the first 2nd female lead that I’ve come to love. It’s refreshing to know that she’s not bitchy just because she’s born like that. Instead, she acts all cutesy because this is what pleases the higher ups. It’s sad that Yoo-kyung needs to do those things just to keep her job.
This show just keeps on getting better each week. I hope the ratings would get better as well. I’m not a ratings freak but in reality, ratings affect the motivation of the entire production team. Low ratings might mean that no one watches their show and I don’t want them to think that way because it’s not true. That’s why I always hope for the ratings to go up.
Anyways, Ahjumma really messed up with the future in episode 6 huh. Those people who were supposed to die in the train in the present timeline could be living in the future timeline where she came from. I wonder how are the writers going to solve that plot. Haha.
These pairs have been added to my list of favorite couples ever~!

No one can portray Kim Shin better than Lee Dong-gun. ^_^ And that basketball scene? My heart melted due to severe cuteness~! Shin and Mirae are my OTP forever~!! Keep it coming Marry Him If You Dare. And this is the first time that I’ve come to like the 2nd female lead. There’s a reason why she’s behaving like that. And that is to survive and to keep her career in broadcasting.
Ratings affect the morale of the cast and production so I hope more people would appreciate this show. Please. If only online streaming affects ratings~ *sighs*
